Get set up in 6 simple steps

This short guide walks you through the essentials: unboxing, connecting, initializing, backing up, and using your Trezor hardware wallet safely.

1
Unbox and inspect

Ensure the packaging is intact and tamper-evident seals are unbroken. If anything looks suspicious, stop and contact the vendor before proceeding.

2
Connect to your computer

Use the supplied USB cable to connect the device. Prefer the official Trezor Suite app or the recommended web flow from the manufacturer to avoid malicious software.

3
Initialize the device

Follow the on-screen setup to create a new wallet. Choose a strong PIN and write down the recovery seed on the provided card — never enter it on a computer.

4
Backup your recovery seed

This is the only way to recover funds if the device is lost. Store backups securely in separate physical locations and consider a fireproof safe.

5
Verify & update firmware

Confirm the device shows the manufacturer's verification screen and update firmware only via the official app to ensure authenticity.

6
Receive, send, and manage

Create receiving addresses, verify them on the device, and always confirm transaction details on the hardware screen before approving.

Why use a hardware wallet?

Isolated private keys
Private keys never leave the device — even during signing. That separation dramatically reduces exposure to malware and remote compromise.
Recovery and portability
Recover any wallet with your recovery seed. The device is compact and built for safe daily carry when needed.
Open-source firmware
Auditable firmware and a transparent update process help the security-conscious verify how the device behaves.
